Loralai, also known as Bori, is a Pakistani city that serves both as the
division headquarter of Loralai Division and the district headquarter
of Loralai District. It is located in the northeastern part of Balochistan
province of Pakistan.
Khalid Khan, from Loralai, Balochistan, comes from a family where
education is deeply valued despite limited financial means. His father,
a retired BPS-16 government employee since 2018, supports a
household of 11 members solely through a monthly pension of PKR
65,000. While three of Khalid’s siblings are married, the rest are still
pursuing their education, leaving the family entirely dependent on
this modest income.
Living in a house rented at PKR 30,000 a month, Khalid’s story is one of
quiet resilience and shared sacrifice—a testament to how
determination and the right support can sustain educational dreams.
Mazahir Hussain, a Software Engineering student from Skardu,
Gilgit-Baltistan, is the son of legendary mountaineer Ali Sadpara. While
his father scaled mountains, Mazahir is committed to rising through
education and hard work. He joined UMT in 2021, and recognizing
both his background and potential, the ILM Fund Scholarship
awarded him 90% financial support, removing a major barrier to his
academic journey. Now in his 8th and final semester, Mazahir has
faced challenges but remained determined, maintaining a CGPA of
2.90.The support from UMT and ILM Fund has been pivotal, enabling
him to build a future rooted in learning, skills, and perseverance.
Mazahir’s journey is more than personal success—it inspires students
from remote regions like Skardu to believe in what’s possible with the
right support and determination.
Hailing from a hardworking family of seven in Gwadar; a port city on
the southwestern coast of the Pakistani province of Balochistan, Nimra
has shown consistent academic strength and resiliencе.
With a father supporting the household through a small shop and
additional work as a Fish Broker who earns around PKR 40,000 a
month and two of her siblings in college while the other two in school,
higher education was a challenge but not out of reach. After excelling
in her matriculation and intermediate studies, she is now in the final
year of BS International Relations at the University of Management
and Technology, Lahore.
The Remote Area Scholarship played a key role in making this journey
possible, easing the financial burden and allowing her to focus fully on
her studies. Her story reflects what’s possible when talent meets
opportunity.
Coming from a rural farming family with very limited and uncertain
income from Timergarah, Luqman’s path to higher education has
been far from easy. Timergara is an administrative subdivision (Tehsil)
of Lower Dir District in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan.
From a family of five with the father working at a small piece of land,
which includes their house as well, and two brothers earning daily
wages as laborers earning around PKR 30,000 a month yet household
income remains irregular – let alone affording the high costs of a
university education.
Despite these challenges, the student is now pursuing a Bachelor’s
degree in Computer Science – a field with significant academic
demands and expenses. The Remote Area Scholarship has been a
crucial lifeline, making it possible to continue studies without placing
further financial strain on the family. His journey powerfully reminds
us that while talent can be found everywhere, opportunity must be
as well.
Raised in Gwadar, Deedag comes from a humble background where
the family’s primary income depends on the sea. His father, а
fisherman, earns around PKR 3,000 a day, though this amount often
varies due to weather conditions and unpredictable catches. Financial
stability has always been uncertain.
Pursuing higher education under such circumstances has been
challenging – especially maintaining a good academic result, given the
academic adjustment required after schooling in a remote area. Yet,
through consistent effort and determination, he has continued to
move forward. His younger sister studies at a government school,
where access to quality resources remains limited – something he
hopes to change for others in the future.
His story reflects the quiet strength of students who rise above their
environment to create opportunity not just for themselves, but for
their communities.
“Working with [NGO Name] has been a truly inspiring experience. Their dedication to uplifting communities and creating sustainable change is unmatched. Through their programs, I’ve seen lives transformed and hope restored”
